their support for a number 12 seed, cal bears, who later this afternoon will take on the number five seed, unlv. both teams practicing yesterday during a session that was free and open to the public. cal is seeking redemption to make up for a poor showing during last year's ncaa tourney when they were taken out early on. even coach montgomery speaking to us yesterday admitted that they were not mentally prepared at the time. this game against unlv is also significant because it is a rematch for both teams. the last time cal played the rebels was in december. cal lost by one point. there's a lot of pressure to answer that loss. and speaking to fans this morning, cal fans are hoping for a little payback. >> i was at that game. luck, that was all luck. they went on a good run at the end of the game. cal should have had it. cal was actually off that game, too. >> reporter: what do you think of the vibe today? >> today, this is like a home game for them. they'll have the crowd and i think they'll be ready. >> hope it's just as close a game, except i hope we win this time. >> reporter: you take a loo

on. to what extent in cal fire and all your other things do you encourage people to do things in their forest when you don't have a fire that make it easier and more effective in fighting the fire? >> it's an excellent question, sir. we spend a large time in cal fire on public education and prevention and also with respect to you were talking about fuel, the fuels program, or vegetation management program in cal fire, we have a robust program throughout the state where we are conducting burning operations and vegetation management with prieflt ranch owners and private land owners as well as on state and cooperating with our federal agencies with the u.s. forest service. so two-fold program, vegetation management, we aggressively pursue that, but also from a public education stand point. what we find in these large scale incidents, the public is going to have to be self-sustaining and self-supporting. they need to be prepared. we try to educate them in respect that we say we'll provide the offense, you provide the defense. we talk to them about hardening their structures

first phone call in this project was to cal trans. in cal trans working together with the bay area with the mayor's office here in the county of san francisco and coast guard, official wild life, all of these came together to find a way when typically the system is designed to say no, people found a way to say yes to this project. the arts commission, this collusion support from the san franciscmuseum of modern art. i apologize for the folks i will be missing because this is a cast of a thousand that made this happen. we certainly love our lawyers in this process. morrison who helped it become a very established and professional way in getting the contract involved in getting this project to an amazing legal footing. the technology network in san jose who made this a crucial project. i want to call out a thanks to or tactical team. we know how to make it small, not over 150 feet in the air. we have a studio, zone engineering and i have to say thanks to hmr who has been a rock star and directly one of the reasons this is happening. an extremely talented project. thank you all. i als

-- lanes are still closed. cal tran has taken ahold of this situation. a pedestrian was hit and killed here. this has turned into a biohazard situation. it was a gruesome seen out here and there was body fluid on the freeway. cal tran said is needs to be cleaned up. here you can look out at traffic that is backed up here in the southbound lanes of 280. again, it's right in the middle of the commute. it could be like this until 10:00 a.m. let's go to video later this morning. this all happened at 3:15. someone called 911 after seeing a body of a woman crumpled on a freeway. they used their car to stop other cars from running over the body. drivers stopped to help, but no other -- none of the cars that stopped had damage on there. so they don't believe any of those people were responsible. investigators think somehow the woman was walking on the freeway and hit her and sped off. >> we broadcasted other agencies in the area. we haven't heard back, but we're relying on everyone, not just law enforcement. >> some of the drivers who stopped to help had to be comforted by the chp because they were
